Coolest Birthday Gifts from my Co-Workers! Gluten Free and Dairy Free Desserts!

Today at work, I got a lot of gluten free dairy free snacks and desserts from my co-workers for my birthday. Yay ^_^! My birthday is actually on the 4th of August so I had to get them today. I got Andean Dream Quinoa Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were okay and a bit dense. The chocolate chips tasted a bit like dark chocolate. What was cool to me about these cookies were that each one was individually wrapped. I’ll give these cookies 3 out of 5.

After I tried out a cookie, I had some ice cream. The Rice Dream Organic Vanilla Ice Cream tasted okay, almost like normal ice cream. My favourite though was the Luna & Larry’s Organic Coconut BlissCappuccino Ice Cream. Everyone at the office got to try out the ice cream and they prefer the Cappuccino as well. It tastes and has the texture like normal ice-cream.  The cappuccino flavour is very strong. This one gets 5 out of 5. I also got chocolate sprinkles for the ice-cream. Sorry I don’t have a picture of the ice cream with the sprinkles. I ate it too quickly ^_^

I also got some more food to snack on. One of my co-workers, Kris, ordered Gluten Free Dairy Free banana bread from a local baker, Sweet Caroline Desserts.

The banana bread was great! It has a strong banana flavour and there are nuts in the bread as well. I will definitely want to order this again in the future and try out some other flavours.

I’m so happy! I don’t care if I gain weight ^_^.

      Thanks. They were great. You will get the ice cream eventually in Jamaica. There was a time when we didn't have any of these things in Trinidad.
      You could also make your own. I am working on some ice cream and sorbet recipes. I will try to perfect them and put them on the blog in the future ^_^

    I am familiar with Rice Dream Milk, I have never seen the ice cream. Where in Trinidad can Rice Dream ice cream be found?

      You can get Rice Dream ice cream at Be Free Foods on Mucurapo Road, St. James. It is located opposite Santa Maria Plaza.

My 2013 Birthday Party with Gluten Free and Dairy Free Chocolate Cupcakes

My birthday was on the 4th of August and I wanted to do something different this year, especially with food. I usually go to Movietowne to watch a movie and eat sushi. There are very few things that I could eat with a gluten-free and dairy free diet in most restaurants. This year, I went to a gaming center, Bedrock Minigolf and Gaming Center and I was able to bring my food. I had ordered normal sandwiches from a bakery for my friends since they do not eat gluten free. I made gluten free and dairy free chocolate cupcakes with King Arthur Chocolate Cake Mix Flour. I bought this cake mix from Be Free Foods . I decorated the cupcakes with homemade icing and Enjoy Life Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips from Be Free Foods . I need to make some improvements on the icing since it melted easily. All my friends, even the owner of the gaming center, loved the cupcakes and couldn't tell the difference between the normal and gluten-free ones.
