Kaizan Sushi Review

Image
When I have to go out and eat with friends, I usually go to Kaizan Sushi in Fiesta Plaza, Movietowne. This is the fifth time since I went by them and I had no problems with the food. I usually order the Ocean's Delight which has Salmon and Tuna sushi rolls with King Fish Ceviche. The Ceviche also has cucumbers, onions and sesame seeds. Other times, I'll order Nigiri or Sashimi.  Check out this Trini Chow album with images of the Kaizan Sushi Menu I do not use the soy sauce in the restaurant. The first time I went to Kaizan, I had asked them if they had wheat in their soy sauce and they checked and confirmed that they had wheat in it. Sometimes I walked with a small plastic bottle of Tamari Soy Sauce. Tamari Soy Sauce can be bought at Be Free Foods . This time I ate the sushi without soy sauce and they still tasted great. The presentation of the food is really good. For drinks, I usually have the Plum Sake or the Ruby Sake. Ocean's Delight. Sushi with salmon and tuna on

French Macarons

Image
Yesterday, I went to the Upmarket . The last one that I went to was a year ago so I had to go to this one to see what new Gluten Free and Dairy Free Food Items they had. I bought a box of macarons with vanilla filling from French Macarons . They said that the macaron ingredients were almond flour, sugar and meringue powder. I ate one and waited a day to see if anything happened and nothing happened, so they pass my personal test. I love the taste. I am not used to eating a lot of sweet things so I could only eat one. I am glad that I found another product that I could eat. I also bought Meringue Cookies which were really good.

Chocolate Coconut Popsicles (Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegan)

Here is an original popsicle recipe that I just tried out today. I might improve this recipe in the future. These popsicles are delicious but a bit grainy because I used grated coconut.

Product Review: Kitchen88 Thai Green Curry Chicken with Jasmine Rice

Image
Front of the box I found a Heat-and-Eat rice meal in Tru Valu supermarket in Diego Martin. It can be found in the aisle with the flours in the corner on the highest shelf. It is called Kitchen88 Thai Green Curry Chicken with Jasmine Rice . It is a product from Octa Foods . There are no statements on the product claiming that it is Gluten Free or Dairy Free. I decided to try it out at my own risk hoping that it would be safe. I read the ingredients list about 10 times before I bought it to make sure that I wasn't making a mistake. I tried it out and nothing happened so it got my approval. I even waited a day to see if there were any delayed reactions and nothing happened so I'm happy. The product does have allergens, such as shellfish, fish and soy . The website for the product has no information about the ingredients or nutritional value so I took pictures of the packaging. I like that the rice and the curry were in individual packs that were easy to tear. The food doesn&#

Homemade Luna Bars (recipe from Chocolate-Covered Katie)

Image
I tried out a recipe which I found on pinterest, Homemade Luna Bars by Chocalate-Covered Katie . I made some alterations to the recipe. I added 4 tbsp of white sesame seeds, left out the protein powder and substituted the virgin coconut oil for grapeseed oil in the No-Sugar Chocolate Sauce . For the Rice Crispies, I used Nature's Path Crispy Rice Cereal which I bought from  Nature's Discount Nutrition Center   in Ellerslie Plaza. I got the Agave Syrup from Hi-lo and I used Chief Cocoa Powder. The bars tasted great. I'm happy I have a new snack to eat when I go out. Gluten Free Rice Cereal with peanut butter, agave syrup, sesame seeds and vanilla extract  My Home-made Luna bars I wrapped each bar with plastic wrap. It is a great on-the-go snack.

Coolest Birthday Gifts from my Co-Workers! Gluten Free and Dairy Free Desserts!

Image
Today at work, I got a lot of gluten free dairy free snacks and desserts from my co-workers for my birthday. Yay ^_^! My birthday is actually on the 4 th of August so I had to get them today. I got Andean Dream Quinoa Chocolate Chip Cookies . They were okay and a bit dense. The chocolate chips tasted a bit like dark chocolate. What was cool to me about these cookies were that each one was individually wrapped. I’ll give these cookies 3 out of 5. After I tried out a cookie, I had some ice cream. The Rice Dream Organic Vanilla Ice Cream tasted okay, almost like normal ice cream. My favourite though was the Luna & Larry’s Organic Coconut BlissCappuccino Ice Cream . Everyone at the office got to try out the ice cream and they prefer the Cappuccino as well. It tastes and has the texture like normal ice-cream.  The cappuccino flavour is very strong. This one gets 5 out of 5. I also got chocolate sprinkles for the ice-cream. Sorry I don’t have a picture of the ice cream with the

Kimchi (Korean Sauerkraut/Fermented Cabbage) Recipe

Image
I've been very busy with studying and work so I haven't been able to make a lot of blog posts. Anyway, I've realized that when you are on a gluten free and dairy free diet there are limited things that you could eat and you will also miss out on some very important vitamins, minerals, etc. For example, since I've been on a dairy-free diet, I haven't been able to eat Yogurt. Yogurt is the bacterial fermentation of milk and it also contains Probiotics which provides a lot of health benefits, such as creating a balance of good bacteria and bad bacteria in the gut and helping the immune system. For the past 3 months or so I've been making Kimchi which can also provide me the probiotics that I would need. I got the idea for the recipe from Maangchi . Here is my kimchi recipe. It is a bit different from the ones on the net. Warning: It is very spicy . Gluten Free Trini's Kimchi Recipe Ingredients 1 tsp crushed garlic 1 tsp crushed ginger 1/4 cup chill
